Changing to 15 offshore leg queries
I'm in the process of changing from a 20 offshore to a 15 offshore and have just realised the 15 has nearly 2 inch further setback,with the longer steering arm does this cause any problems swapping the steering?.does it make a difference to the steering feel with the longer arm?I've just stripped the 15 leg to powder coat it and I'm trying to ensure I have no issues when I finally swap it over. its no more setback dude, its just like this as the leg isnt as long so it actually puts the prop in the same place due to the angle of the transom
What steering have you got? because if its side ram you will need a different wing plate

I have a hydraulic system similar to sear star but has a square ram-I can't find a make.
Another question how the F---k do you get the front power head nuts undone ?is there a special spanner? what a crap design.Nic

Just a normal 9 1/16af spanner but you have to lift power head a bit to get nut off and put them back on before fully lowering when you re-assemble !! Has the boat already got a cut down transom ?

It allready has the transom cut down, I can't seem to get a ring spanner on as the steering arm is in the way,and an open ender only just fits on.I've managed to get one loose but struggling with the other.Nic

Bit of heat nic, dont go too crazy with the open ender, you round the nut and your ****ed. And yeah, its a bit of a shit design!

I think with no washers it has allowed the nut to drop in the recess making it harder to get a spanner on.I think when I refit it I will grind the shoulder away to give proper access to the nut. Cheers Nic

Yeah, ive seen that, sometimes dspending on the cowl tray used, the studs aren't long enough to bite the nylon on the nuts so people leave the washers out! It's tight in there, pain in the ass when they're stuck!

Yeah, Ive often contemplated that after getting them off, as theres nothing to seal behind there. But theyre there for a reason, I just dont swing out of them when putting them back and grease them up well!
