cle waterway plates not sealing

Can anyone help on this? I polished my gearbox and re assembled it, cleaned up the original o rings that sit behind the plate and they still leak.
the plates bow out in the middle when I do up the screws and loose the seal.
I have just tried cutting 1mm insertion rubber to the exact size of the plates, lay it over the waterway then pumped sealant on top of the insertion rubber then the plates screwed back on, wiping the excess sealant off after.
Hopefully this will be sealed when I test it tomorrow.
Anyone had these problems before or any good ideas or new plates etc?
thanks

i used to have the exact same prob..leave the rubber ring in and black silacone on top sorted it but to be truthfull when mine leaked it never gave any drop in water pressure in the water as the incoming water is getting rammed up.. it just looks bad when running on the driveway with the hose

I've gave up with mine!
Done all the procedures you've both done, stonking pressure when running in the water ,,,, for a while, then it begins to drop away after a couple of days.
Eventually the engine temp begins to rise, so it's box off and inspect.
Always find the pump housing has began to melt so I replace the full pump kit. Two days later same again!
Any ideas.

Replace the plates and o-rings, some boxes have 6 screws instead of 4 which i guess stops them bowing out and would give a better seal

What do you see is wrong with the plates, how do you see that replacement plates will cure the problem.
Can 6 hole plates be fitted on a 4 hole box ????

So far so good, insertion rubber cut to shape and sikaflex seams to of sealed it. And No the 6hole plates are a lot fatter and wouldn't work on a 4hole plate box
