cooling pipes

i,ve just swapped to an offshore leg on my merc 200efi. on the port side of the engine i have a pipe coming from the stat (hand on it in pic) is this just a dump it,used to go to a fitting in the adaptor plate but my new plate does not have can i just run it out as a tell tale

yes you can use it as a tell tall. before on your old leg it just directed water back into the leg.

thanks i thought it was just a dump but its always good to confirm before i cook something
