counter rotating gearbox
just wondering if you can change a gearbox's rotation direction,say you brought a engine that had been used on a twin engine boat and the gearbox was counter rotating could you swap the gears around to make it standard rotation?

You can use the casing but would need a standard carrier and gearset.

For the record, running any OB, or Alpha/pre Alpha gear box in the wrong direction, ie, running it in reverse with the opposite rotation propeller on, WILL cause early failure of the gearbox!
This is especially true for a RH (STD) rotation gearbox running in reverse, where the failure would be within a few miles.
So, Boatmad.com in no way reccomends this practice.

I would choose a bow tank if I had to have one OR the other. but I'd have both if I could, as they can serve different purposes.

Both dude
bow tank to keep the nose down specially in the rough cus you have a power lift.
Tabs to balance the boat when waves coming in from the side and other reasons that i cant think of

well i've got both and use both so i can't really say.
however i'd probably agree with jonny cus i have water in the bow tank about 95% of the time mainly cus of the extra bow lift my jack plate gives me and i could cope without the trim tabs but they do make a hell of a difference.

No. when i jack the engine above the transom then i dont need the water but as it's never flat in weston thats only around 5% of the time
