Cover for a 26ft cat??

I'm trying to find a way to get an 'all over' cover for my cat, as it'll be stored in a dusty boatyard when not in use. Ideally it will cover from the bow to the back of the engines, about 29ft all in.
I was thinking about a caravan cover or something?

Anyone got any suggestions?

Cheers, James

sounds good... Any idea were they got it from? was it a caravan cover? I've had a look and most companies only go up to 26ft

How easy has it been to put on/ take off?

Cheers, James

Watch! as most covers are tapered for monos James,

I'm using the same material as Rob suggests and yes caravan cover for the f1 cat here, just a bit long at the sides but the boat is protected from the elements, £87 i think it was (grey breathable material,)

The mono thing is the problem with most covers, hence why i was looking for a caravan cover. Do you think they're tough enough to withstand being put on and off once a week or so for a season?
The only problem then is finding a cover for a 9 metre caravan! Saying that, i guess a cover for a 10m mono would do as i could hook it over the front of the trailer!

My only other option is to persuade the boatyard to let me erect a marquee over the boat that i can tow it into and out of! May be easier in the long run i guess!

Its important as its a wooden boat that you let the thing breathe. No good wrapping it up in plastic & letting it sweat.
I'd use a good canvas with a lined back and make sure you get some airflow through it. a typicl cover would be around 300-350 mono cover off the peg, also keep the front well elevated to let any water drain through.

Note most canvas covers will require treatment once a year to remain waterproof

Sounds like good advice to me, you sould know! Sounds like it would weigh a bit though? With the marquee idea i was planning to leave the back off it to allow good airflow, they come draughty as standard!

Going back to the canvas thing, what does this mean...? "a typical cover would be around 300-350 mono cover off the peg"

Any idea where i would get such a thing made, and how much it would cost?

Cheers, James

I tried the tent type thing using a Market Stall type easy-up-bought a good strong steel framed one with sides that covered the open part of the deck but unless you buy one big enough to get the boat and trailer fully enclosed the wind gets under the thing and it tried to take off even with ratchet straps gallore pulling it down,it kept the boat dry and ventilated when it was on though but still gets a layer of dust
Cheers

Good to hear someone else made that work then! The boatyard is quite sheltered and i was looking at getting a 4m x 10m marquee, so the whole lot would fit inside and it would all be very well pegged down.
I would have it floored too so dust shouldn't be too bad, it's more the bird cr@p and stuff i want to avoid.
Cost is also an issue and i can get a really good quality marquee for about £350.

Cheers, James

One like this maybe?
Or is it too light weight?

Thats exactly the kinda thing i was looking at, i'd had a look at that exact one as it happens. Even just 1 season's use would be great as they're not too expensive.
