Diesel pumps and filters
Hi all,
Any ideas where I can find diesel, electric fuel pumps (facet), 8 psi. Also, water separator and filter, for diesel?
Thanks in advance.
Pete

Don't know about pumps and there are likely plenty of places to buy filters but I've used ones from Lancing Marine sold as water separators with clear bowls. I have two in series, the first as a separator and the second is a filter. A Crossland number, ( erm, I've forgotten the number off hand, I'll post it tomorrow), or equivalent is a straight replacement for the water separator element. The plus side is you can see water or contamination and you can drain it, the negative side is you need to dismantle them to replace the filter. A spin on/off can could be a good idea if you will ever need to change them at sea.

Thanks JW, I tried to look on their website and it asks for username etc, I guess you have to register. Was only on line for a short time, will look again later.
Anyone else got any ideas about pumps, would diesel pumps be any different to Petrol?

I think that may be a site error but you can still download a pdf of their price book which has them listed. I have to say I think their prices are way too high so this isn't a recommendation for them but the product has been fine.
The last filters I bought were Mann Filters and their number is; HU 712/8x the Crossland ones are number 1040. These are direct equivalents but the Mann ones are slightly different at the top end and better.
Here's a pic so you know what I'm talking about.
Just for info. and from experience of using a diesel engine for a few years and occasionally getting contaminated fuel and also needing to replace an element a sea, I'll be adding a spin on filter between the other two in this set up. You'll see that both contain a paper element at the moment but that's not my normal setup, normally it's water separator (Stainless Gause) followed by paper filter. So to clarify, it will be water separator, spin on, paper filter.
Anyway, I'm sure you'll have your own ideas.
