electric power steering

Does anyone use this? I hear the best bet is a saxo pump, going for around 40 quid on ebay - but id be wary of it being on all the time..

Verado's have electro hydraulic power steering as standard.

We use electric for circuit cats. Not really reliable enough for pleasure boating as they generate quite a lot of heat. Also quite sensitive to moisture. I think TRW make the system for the verado you may be able to research that.

Yeah i guess they would probably make some heat, im going to cool the oil through a heat exchanger so that should help. I guess if it fails its not that bad as will still have steering, just seems to make sense as I already have the ram ect. Simple is the key here so having a pump wired in to a ign relay seems pretty logical. any ideas as to the amp draw?

thanks
Will
