Evinrude HO Props?

Does anybody know what most people run on 150HO boats (OCR, etc.)? Or what the Europeans run on their 19' bats with 115HOs?

Based in Bermuda. Our current 26p hit the rev limiter. The 27 we tried was at approx 5400rpm. What are the main differences between the Raker I and Raker II versions?

IIs have the newer replaceable TBX bushes, and are a different grade of stainless I believe. Where's the limiter on the 150s?

115ho

We mainly used rakers with a 115HO on our 22ft Adam Younger VS22 - good rough water and holeshot props

started with cleaned and sharpened 22/ 24s and then got some more pitched up and down

Steve Glenn at Steve's Custom props in Ft Lauderdale did the work for us and he is great - I bought some props on ebay and had them delivered straight to him to be worked - worth considering!

We ran a 27 pitch winrace in the fjords in Norway for one race - better top end but getting on the plane was a bit challenging.

Don't know about the 150HO but we always had issues getting high revs with the 115HO.

Dan Priestley raced a 150 HO in Guernsey and may be able to help.

Also - don't know what class you are racing/ if you are allowed but I have been told that you can chip / code break the 150HOs?????

115 Ho

Also as Bob said - the 115 takes a V4 hub so may be apples and pears!

Approx 5600 with the 26p. Have tried looking for a HP graph to see where peak power is on the 150HO but not having much luck. Thinking something like a 26.5 would be good to try. Have used a Winrace before but didn't get the top speed we were expecting. And at their cost...we don't want to try another! Class is 'stock' so can't mess with the brain at all. How deep did you run the 115?

I thought the max recommended RPM was 5600. Newer models are now saying 6000 (per the Evinrude website). This is a 2010 model so not sure if they were any different?

That will be the top of the rev range recommended for leisure use. My 200HO has a recommended max of 5800 I think but the actual limiter isn't until 6250. Extra oil is added above 5800 I believe which isn't a bad thing!

What gear case are you using?

The Lightning 1/first generation. No nose cone but we might look to add one this season.

Not sure on depth.

We had a lifter but found going high lost a little speed after 2-3 inches

Revs went up a little but no real speed gains.

To be honest changing the height didn't make much difference to speed - just how the boat felt in different conditions.

Sorry - I know that's not that helpful- baffled us too!

We notice a slightly higher top speed when running deeper too. Thoughts on pitching down and running deeper vs. an inch or two higher in pitch and running slightly higher?

I guess it depends on the conditions eh!

Tends to be fairly rough at some point during most races over here. Some very experienced old Guernsey powerboaters told me to go average speed than top speed - personally I'd rather go lower pitch and have the better pick up out the corners/ in big waves and to maybe try and be able to trim the boat a little more with the throttle.

Deeper may give you more stability (?) and more drive in the rough if you're mildly airborne?

I guess the answer is probably lots of testing in lots of different conditions!
