I've heard of them, I'd post on scream and fly, they'd be likely to know.
Given the leg etc from your motor and a merc mid I'm confident we could make it work at Atec, it's only an adaptor plate and gearbox shaft.
I'd definately be up for putting some time in to see how it could be done.

Cheers, James

Link to Mad EFI convertors

Here we go, this is the yank option. I know it's quite common (so to speak) over there, but it seems they only do short legs as it's mainly done in drag racing etc I think. If you went down that road we could easily make up a spacer to take the gearbox down and make it a 20" leg again.

i have to change due to the evinrude saddle completely snapping/shearing on me and was just wondering what the cheaper option would be as the evinrude saddle does have this problem, ive looked into it a little to find out its a common problem alot of people in the US convert to a merc bottom end to combat this as the evinrude top end is pretty much bulletproof

Cheers Larby, i think it could be both very interesting and an awesome pairing considering the power of the eveinrude and the strength of the merc bottom end (i think i may trust a merc saddle etc a fair bit more than evinrude now) il keep you updated as to what i find out and the route i take

Cheers Dan

The only issue i can see is that the gearboxes aren't strong enough for the torque of the evinrudes, I read a thread a while back and they kept blowing gearboxes, it was a 250HO they were running though,

Ok thanks, i'm only running the 200HO but its worth knowing that, i suspected that could be a potential problem and i'l have a look into that

Cheers Dan

Dan have you seen the 200ho for sale on Tig.gg? It's been there ages but he may still have it, it's had the saddle strengthened. Maybe worth looking into reinforcing a stock Evinrude saddle? Far cheaper and easier than mixing and matching parts

The Evinrude torque is a bit of a problem, but the saddles do self destruct, and if that happened in the middle of a race/with other around it could pose a serious problem, so either way, merc bottom and evinrude top or just replacing the saddle/trim etc, it would definately be an idea to strengthen it up.

Lets see what we can do and have a good look at the options

Yeah just had a look its a bit too expensive for me really and i will have any saddle strengthened now after that lol, i'm not to sure what will be cheaper which is why i'm looking into all the avenues at the moment.

Cheers Dan

To be honest i'm open to all suggestions but the most cost effective and least problematic will be the one i will choose. Which ever saddle i get WILL be strengthened now after that, it wasn't a pleasant experience really
