i have access to a metal xray light and dye so will very carefully inspect all parts.

If you think of anythink else Techteam let me know, I will also keep updates posted.

The way i am thinking at the moment is do i need 300+HP on my cat, Maybe i will go the lower compression head route and run lower revs on pump fuel?

Hey Bernicotje, Do you know what mods where done to the ECU?
I see it has a din plug and a variable pot inside it.
Maybe a number code for the 280hp one?
sorry i can't help you on that ... nicolas vanackeleyen does al the work (modding) on my engine

Thanks Bernicotje.

I now have a Pyrometer/EGT (Exhaust gas Tempature) probes into both lower runners of the divider plate. I have been told not to run over 1200 degrees Farenheight @ WOT with the XR2. Can anyone confirm this?

Also can i expect it to run hotter or colder (What are my expected safe parameters) on Av Gas?

I believe the max temp is 1150 degrees, Aluminium begins to melt above that.

I agree with roofer, i expect you will find that av gas burns cooler so enables you to run a slightly leaner mixture

F1 Set-up

Instead of guessing of what set-up would work best why not contact either of the Nico's for advise as they are far more of an expert regarding these engines than any of us on this board.

Also the life of these engines is 24hrs not 10 as previously stated, (24hrs Rouen)

I'd stick with the 10 hours if I were you. Specially if you are going to run it anywhere near the top of the powerband. I doubt if anyone ran that spec at Rouen if they did it wasn't for 24hrs As for the EGT, think what it is you are measuring, that would be GAS not aluminium. The gas is much hotter than the metal as the charge coming in cools the pistons and the water cools the block/heads etc. Most merc "tuners" are very sensitive about their EGT values. And don't pee your pants when you lift of in a hurry and it spikes.
