Fitting a Rev Counter

My mate has a Blue Band 800 (80hp) he wants to put my old tacho on it. But I dont know if I can hook it up to his engine.
Does anyone know if it can be done and how to do it?

Rob.

It's pretty simple.
Make sure the selector is set to 12 'pole alternator' on the back of the Tacho, give it +12v and ground where it asks for it, and connect the 'S' (sense) terminal to one of the two wires (I think they're yellow) from the stator where they connect to the rectifier (AC tap, not the rectified side), job done.

How do I identify the 'rectifier' and the 'ac tap' and the 'rectified side' ??
