For all those who use the Merc oil pump
This is what happens when the oil pump drive fails.

You'll have to ask the previous owner. The engine was on a bowrider I've just bought, the seller said that they had rebuilt the engine but didn't replace the drive on the crank and this happened first time out.

hey you should sell that to evans marine (not dan on here!) He'd have that running and sold in an afternoon!
On a more serious note, that's a bit crap, i don't get why people cut stupid little corners like that!

OK just to clarify. The engine was already blown up when I bought the boat .
I WOULD NOT AND NEVER HAVE RUN THE OIL INJECTION ON A MERCURY OUTBOARD.
I posted the pictures for reference only, If you want to take the risk of using the oil injection this WILL eventually happen to your engine.
