Fuel Filter Question ?
what will be a good high micron fuel filter for my carbed 2,4 ,with primer bulb and stock fuel pump.
i thought there is a filter after the pump to the carbs ,but nada...
the streets ahead has a custom made tank,i drained all the old fuel .
but there is some fuel left because the tank is baffled and on the ground i can see small debris of dirt/rubber ?.
i want not clog my jets or needle and seats
michael

found a nice billet high flow (8mm) one with bronze high micron filter.
i thought about the big mercruiser watersep/fuel filter ,in my opinion it is better to filter behind the fuel pump(low pressure mechanical set up), because most of the pumps are ok on the outlet (pressure) side but do have a bad vacuum on the inlet to get the fuel out of the tank and through a big filter.
in case of an efi high pressure set up with electric pump in front of the filter it will be ok.

imho putting the filter after the pump is allowing crud into the fuel system and stoping it at the last gate...ive got mine as it leaves the tank as the vacume of the bulb does most of the pulling ime sure

baj666,
that's sounds good to me, thought about that to.
i am new to v6 outboards and i don't know how strong is the mecanical pump on the inlet side. i want to be on the safe side when i am out on our river .
small debris of dirt will not a big problem for the pump itself.
next season i have more time for some tests

bear in mind at wot you wil need about 80 liters an hour through that filter it does not have the surface area so any debris will quickly block it. get a proper filter such as a racor or the quicksilver one. you ideally want 3/8 ports on it
