Guard strip (?) for P16

Hi guys, does anyone know where I can get new guard strip for a P16. I'm talking bout the aluminium profile and the rubber insert that goes around the whole hull (see attachment). Probably not the correct name for it

Thanks

most genuine Phantom strips were a unique extrusion that they had made specifically for thier boats. "Wilkes" may have something similar to help you.

tut then again, I'm sure Kitten will respond rubbishing my efforts to be helpfull

Correct, but that looks to be the wilkes extrusion, not the Baker special which was more squared.

Looks like the SB smaller extrusion to me. I think Trio took most of it when they bought the moulds.

Did Nick not get any with the XL moulds?

Wilks produced it for Steve, using dies that he had specified and paid for. They still have them (the tooling), but i guess there would be a large minimum order. I think Steve used to buy a few hundred metres at a time, which was the minimum they would set up for.

Thanks guys. I think the 12m I need are not a big enough order

I'll just have to look for something that looks a bit like it. Does it have to be aluminium? I only found some plastic that looks kinda like it. Its just there for protection right, not to hold the deck and hull together or anything ??

Looks to me like Wilks might be producing this smaller size as stock now.

If your deck isnt fibreglassed together from the inside than the rubail will hold it together. But it doenst mather wether you take alu or plastic. It are the screws or rivets that hold it together and not the strip itself.

They are fibreglassed together. Thanks for the info. Might be a bit more easy to get them from Belgium.

Jup,

Each strip is 6 meters. So you need two strips and than you can buy the rubber insert per meter. I used them on my boat. Great stuff and not difficult to install.

Looks nice. Would you happen to know the height of the profile?

Not wishing to dis Mr jon "phantom" Fuller, but you are wrong
The stuff supplied by S Baker for the XL measures 13.8mm by 28.75mm,
not much difference but coupled with the squared profile different enough to make the wilkes and Baker strips chaulk and cheese.

Try these dudes. http://www.sealsdirect.co.uk/bbCMS/s...DepartmentId=5

I dont know what colour you are doing your boat but I thought that the aluminium was rather dated, so I went colour coded (ish) to the gel colour and it made (in my eyes) the boat a bit more modern visually.

Thanks, I just received my new strip from sealsdirect. I had to pay 150 pounds for shipping the the 3,65m long aluminium strips to the Netherlands. However the guys at sealsdirect cut them down to 90cm pieces on my request which bumped the shipping down to 40 pounds
