head problem

wanted to get my XR2 heads lightly skimmed before i take the motor to get stripped and re-built but the local machine shop tells me he does not have the tooling to clamp down the heads...i used to have a few tools when building bike engines for this same reason as these XR2 heads have no flats on them either but gave them all away few years ago.anyway told him to put the heads and divider plate in the wash unit and it looks like its the ole plate glass and grinding paste jobbie..btw the heads are showing 26cc is this the standed volume before i put a couple of hours into them

machine vice?

What he does not have a machine vice and a DTI there!!!
Any machine shop should be capable of clamping and XR2 head, he may have to shim one side then clock it flat.

Not hard!

I put them block face down take off the thermostat covers and skim the back then turn them over and do the block side.Quicker and easier than shimming. I would just surface them if I were you, they are pretty robust.
