Help with wood please.

I removed the perspex side window to replace it and repair the wet rot.
I drilled a few holes to dry it out and thought i might soak it in epoxy maybe inject some in the holes, maybe fill the holes with glue powder after.
I dont really know what i am doing so any thoughts on this would be good ,cheers Cw
ps i dont really want to cut the ply out and replace as there isnt the time before CTC.

Well I think its a quicker fix to let in some new marine ply then fanny around with an epoxy system and sheath it with matting etc.
One could do a temporary repair for the race ,except it is a classic and deserves a little respect so easy on that drill tiger !

If you really are not going to replace the wood then inject West epoxy in there with coloidal silica mixed into it, don't use just neat epoxy (although you want to wet it out with neat epoxy first). Then tap dowels (best to use cross cut dowels so you are not left with end grain showing) in on top of the full of epoxy holes. This will serve two purposes, it will seal the hole & hydraulic the epoxy into any voids behind. You need to try to make sure the voids are filled. This will work (ask me how I know) & won't take long to do, but as Big Dutch rightly says, new wood is best.

What about 'git-rot'? I know it's pretty much just thinned resin but it seems pretty bloomin good, especially as a temp fix? Soaks in much better than straight epoxy
