Hummers

This is either a hydrodynamic or stupid question. You choose.

I've noticed over time that certain hulls make a humming sound when on the plane. It seems to be more prevalent on twin outboard boats.

I'd always thought a boat hummed because it didn't know the words but I don't think that's right.

Most likely to be motors mounted high, with the props semi-surfacing. surface drives 'hum' like a bastud as the blades leave, and re enter the surface.
How many blades doyour props have Ben?

Three blade round ear Rakers. The motors are not mounted especially high but it does only happen when the engines are trimmed out a bit.

You've jogged my memory. The Reefer (with a four blade cleaver) did the same thing when trimmed out. Think you have answered my question!
