JSRE dial indicator

Hi,
Is anyone familiar with the JSRE dial indicator procedure? The instructions are clear on setting to .50 so it marks at 25 degrees etc. But I was wondering what marks I should be looking for with a timing light at CT & WOT? Its probably glaringly obvious but I can't seem to get my head round it!

It's ok, I looked thru a few old threads and I obviously answered my own question! I guess I shouldn't be looking at timing specs in a merc service manual for .465

I do NOT use the .465 method...

Just go by the furnished instructions , the end result will be 7 marks on your flywheel one mark will confirm O on # 1 so you can confirm where your static pointer is correctly lined up with the true O mark going in a CLOCK WISE rotation . Next rotate the gauge basel and align O with the needle .Next in a COUNTER CLOCK WISE rotation rotate the needle ( flywheel ) to .150" OR 1 1/2 turns of the needle ending up on .050" this will represent 25 degrees of timing on every hole you do this on...This becomes a GREAT trouble shooting tool to now advance the timing arm and shoot a timing light on all plugs in the fully advanced place corisponding to the 25 degree mark this will comfirm switch box and trigger health.

Many thanks, but I did it to the instructions provided (I put my merc manual away!) and then did all six cylinders, just as well as no. 6 was advanced so its now my timing cylinder. Many thanks. I was just getting confused with the merc manual one side of me and your instructions the other!
