Mariner/Mercury 150hp new rings

Hello

I have or will have a 150hp mariner/mercury 150hp v6.
Its approx. 1990 a vey tidy engine.
I have been told it has low compression on cylinder 1 top left as looking from behind the engine.
Is it possible to replace the rings without splitting the crank case.
I do know on some engines its possible to remove the heads. and the inlet manifolds.
Access can be gained to the crank and big ends.
Anyone know if this is possible on this engine.

If not I will break for parts..
Regard
Peter
