Mariner seized
Well first trip out of my holiday and got just a few hundred yards engine stopped.
Thankfully a friendly chap gave us a tow back to our slipway so no problems apart from a smoking engine.
Took the cover off and the what I would imagine is the rocker covers and then what I think is the plate for the cooling water to move round, all bone dry. (The tell tale sometimes takes a short time or until the revs build to come so did'nt worry until it was too late in just a few hundred yards of starting.)
Top piston is scorred.
Not done an outboard before so looking for some advice, I'd like to rebuild it/sort it out as its been such an efficient engine over the past years.
Its a Mariner 60 number 9436112 (3 cyl 3 carb).
What I could really do with is a diagram to take it apart, got a mate who could possibly hone it as I believe they are oversized?
If I need a piston, where's a good place to get one.
I'm thinking the impellar must have gone or seized but not sure untill I can take it apart to look.
Any advice would be of great help as I'm on holiday for 5 weeks and would like to get it sorted and back in the water to enjoy.
Gutted, was so looking forward to enjoying it.
Thanks
