Merc 200hp
Quick question
I have the choice of purchasing a merc 200hp 2.5L Offshore (love the sound of these) or would I be better buying a 200hp optimax, is there much difference in fuel economy and weight?

Mutually exclusive!

the 2.5l offshore is not a race engine XL shaft more like a workhorse looks a lot more heavy than 170kgs

Then the optimax will be much more economical..
however the difference in price must also be taken into account..

If it was me I would buy the optimax
The optis are heavier but fuel economy is better. My mate has one on a r21 uses nearly half the fuel and is 5 to 10 mph faster than the a 200xr2 he had on a r20. ok he never had the best set up but you could say the same of both boats.
