Merc gearbox question

Possibly a stupid question but are merc gearboxes interchangeable between 15 and 20 inch legs or are some gearboxes for 15s and others for 20s????

The gearbox itself is the same, but the driveshafts are different lengths. They're interchangeable, but it's not straightforward

Unless you get a drive shaft extension to put on a 15 to run in a 20

I take it theyre both not the same gearcase then. If ones a sporty and the other a CLE, the driveshafts wont be interchangable.

I have a 20" drive shaft if you need 1.
I bought a cle box and used me offshore 25" shaft so this 1 is good as new.
Let me know if you want to buy if off me.

Cheers guys - looking for a 15" though as I'm going to keep the 15" leg

Think I'm going to flog the 1.87 20" sportmaster with the rest of the boat (hull's fooked though!) powerhead, rigging / trailer etc to get it all gone at once!
