I use to race a phantom 16 with an Evinrude etec90 it use to go upto 55mph in the sea. I still hold 1 speed record for it set in coniston at about 50mph ( fresh water less buoyant).
Main problem was bows to light in anything but the flattest of seas. I use to move the fuel tank forward and add lead to two posts with bolts coming out.
If your going to run a 200 on a 16 then buy a cleaver prop so you are at least lifting the arse of the boat and not the nose.
Anyway Kieth Whittle at PowerTech marine on Hayling Island currently has a 16 phantom that needs a new transome, might be worth having and updating it a BT to suit your merc.
