Can somebody tell us more about a Mercury V6 serial number ?

On the European serial number list that serial range is 1986-1994 V135/V150/V175/V200.
Unless its registered on the Brunswick system, that is as much info as I think you'll get.
Does anyone know why mercury's serial number cataloguing was so bad in the 80s & 90s.
What carbs do you have? that sometimes gives you a bit more of a clue but not always as 150/175/200 shared a lot of them.

We have just bought this one in pristine condition as a Bridgeport 2.4 with offshore mid, and CLE lower....
Very happy with it, now we want to know as much as possible from this
motor !

My 2.4efi /cle is pretty close to that # so it's a US engine imported for racing in the 80's.
