offset sterndrive

could anyone explain to me why the engine and sterndrive in this boat of mine was set up 60mm off centre .i,ve been told avengers have strange handling but i can,t see how this would help but it might explain why it hadn,t been in the water for 20yrs

the same reason you would offset an outboard, torque from the prop, it less noticable on an inboard but it does it none the less, the reason i suspect it isn't done much on inboards is the difficulty in reversing your work if you get it wrong
