Question old merc 115hp 6cyl tower of power

ok some I'm having a few minor problems with my engine.
Does anyone know where I can get or find a manual for this engine.
I believe its around an 1984 engine.....it goes well, when she goes.

My problem is the bottom carb pisses out fuel I need to adjust it....

And now I'm stuck I don't have much knowledge I'm new to this perfomance boat stuff

It starts and then would stall and when put in gear it stalls.

Any help greatly apprichated.

how long has this engine been stood before you got it?
sounds like a good place to start would be to take the carbs off and give them a good strip and clean.
the flooding is probably caused by an obstrution in the inlet needle causing the float chamber to not shut off when full

Could be many things!
Air leak, carb ballance, low fuel pressure, weak mixture and totally of the wall is you gearbox free? Dose the prop spin while your running on muffs?
Is the engine stalling through lack of power or is it mechanical.
Another possibility is head gasket, but don’t get carried away!
start by checking all the simple stuff first,
Air leaks around the carbs and inlet manifold can be checked by spraying WD40 around them while the engine is running, the engine will pick up momentarily, check the diaphragm in the fuel pump. Reset the mixture screws,
Its all fun stuff and you get to do it six times!

the best advice i can give you as someone who wants to learn is get it serviced by someone who knows what they are doing and then once its up together learn to keep it that way!

otherwise with that motor there is a chance you'll go mad

hi andy......it spins fine on the muffs and to me it sounds as iff its lacking fuel or air in the system.
I was told to make the mix 400ml oil to 20liters of fuel.

So slowly getting round to narrowing it down.
What do you think?

thats 50to1,
these old engines will burn that if they are running well but you could be oiling up on tick over, what do your plugs look like?

I raced a 115 straight six, I once had that very same problem with it, as you say runs fine until you put it into gear. On mine it turned out to be the powerhead to leg gasket was leaking. Replaced it and it ran fine. Good luck getting yours sorted.
