Optimizing Merc 2.0 150

The Season will be over soon, time to spend some attention to the engine...

I've bought it last year as a Merc 2.0 135.

It's mounted on a Ring 16 (pics attached).

What i've done until now:

- Carbs out of a 200??? (WH 31, 0.66 Jets) Are these 200hp Carbs???
- Bobs Machine Tuner
- Bobs Exhaust Housing
- Removed Can

WOT rpm's changed from 5300 to 6200 with this mods (Laser 2 23p, 2:1 Box).

What are the next steps to get more power from it?

Do XR2 Heads fit on this engine?
Changing the reeds?

Would this result in a remarkable performace gain?

Thanks

We had 65 mph on the gps. Revs are 6200 - 6300rpm.

Maybe i could turn a 25p at the same revs with the XR2 Heads?

XR2 reeds don't fit in the 135/150 front half!?

if it has horizontal reeds, changing the reeds, along with other mods you have done will all add together and help.

Somebody told me it has vertical reeds, so XR2 reeds won't fit then?

What's up with the Xr2 Heads? This helps on overall performance?

Increased compression is the biggest bang for money spent normally picks up dramatic bottom end, mid range and 2 -3 MPH on the big end......

I charge $175.00 USD to CC a pair of heads to a target compression number of 145 PSI cranking at sea level.

I'd find a horizontal front half and install TDR reeds at $175.00 USD a set.

If you have the "hour glass shaped" 5 petal reed cages I machine them like the high performance square openings for $60.00 USD for a set of 6

Any shorter bell style tuner is a nice addition either it be a 200 HP Merc or a Bob's both work fine.

Freight cost used to be an issue but since the USPS has came up with the flat rate box shipping methods freight to Europe is now VERY reasonable and has a very fast delivery times ( 6-7 days ) ..

Cathy and I try to treat each customer as we would like to be treated.. That method has worked out GREAT for the 14 years JSRE has been in business..And we see no reason for change..

Cheers,
Jay
