Cant you get a socket in on it?
As for the hurting of hands you are meant to hit the spanner/socket NOT your hand!!

split the tuner adaptor from the leg this gives you more room to work
however Gav couldn't undo the one i sold him even by heating it.
he cut the allen heads off and still coundn't get them out.
he ended up buying a new tuner adaptor in the end.
I have a spare if you need one

The problem now is the 2 allen bolts here on the exploded drawing of the swivel bracket. Part number 29 is the one giving me the jip, I tried the same method as before with the lower 2 but A. there is not enough space B. it shattered the ring end of the spanner!
Anyone??

So if I cut the heads off of the allen bolts then the saddle should seperate? Sense that makes then guess I.
But your saying I may end up with the bolts themselves stuck in the tuner adaptor? I was going to use the tuner adaptor from my promax if it fits! if it fits! Assumimg that one comes apart ok!

No. you say you have taken the split ring off the bottom of the swivel bracket so if you split the tuner adaptor from the leg and lift up the tuner adaptor and swivel bracket should come away together without the need for removing the allen head bolts. however you will still need the swivel bracket as these are different from normal mids but it will be easier to work on once you can get at the bolts properly. not sure about the tuner adaptor though.

Cut the heads off the bolts (dremel, hacksaw, etc). You may also need to sacrifice the mounts, or get the bolts out of em with a little heat if they're already solid ones.

Split ring removed. 1st thing I did as it was about the only thing I remembered from when you and Gav took apart your old one.
The plate and leg are seperating now, there is about 10mm between the two pieces now! Still hard going though. I am sure the tiller (24 on the explode) is the same as the one on my Promax. The promax is an OS saddle anyway, I just hope that doesnt give me the same problems!
I got the grinder on the Allen bolts but I didnt have enough clearence all the way around to to totally grinde it away!
I just wish I could run down the shop and when I got back Gav was sitting there having a cuppa like last time he did something like this!

This is another home made tool, half clamp half 14mm spanner! Did the job after several revisions!

They are OS saddles and domestic legs. from what I can see the saddle is identical to the one on my promax.
The next big challenge is to remove the tiller from the plate. But I dont know if I can be arsed today!
Tell me more about your spare plate. As I remember Gav saying the plate on my leg doesnt have as big exhaust ports as the ports on the bottom of the engine.

Domestic legs? Do they do your washing and cook for you and stuff? I guess this must be the reason some people prefer them to the offshore type!!!
