I have been in negotiation with the vendor today and have reached a point where i am going to sleep on it tonight and make my final offer in the morning.

If i do get her, there will be an awful lot of work to be done before she goes into service again.

It'll cost twice what you reckon and only be worth half what you hope at the end of it.

Never mind. I don't think you'll regret it, judging by the apparent work required. Somewhere there's a boat with your name on it.
Ah, the good ship "Turnip"

So was Walter Mitty still being unrealistic or is this still a viable project for someone?

Well, "you pays your money and takes your choice".

The Monza that i was chasing in Sweden, that sold two days before my Surveyor got there was available to me for 10k.

The owner of this one wont take less than 22k. I just dont think its worth it in light of the work required.

Look at the pics of the rebuilt engines . . . . . .

I just smell something fishy with this one.

So the muppet turns down £15k to see it sit there another three years. Bright kiddy ain't he?

I was of the impression that he only had one engine rebuilt. At least that's all I could see bills for. To be honest though rebuilt or not they probably need tearing down to clean up having sat as long as they have.

This seems a classic case of someone having spent a fortune, little of which has added value and not being able to reconcile in their own mind that the boat is only worth what someone will pay for it.

Or maybe he's under the impression that it's value is increasing being 'Limited Edition'

I've a feeling we'll all be old and grey (greyer) before this one runs again.

Yeah,

The owner obtained the boat with blown engines (200 hours) for a sum of money (???), then he spends 25k on rebuilt engines (utilising the old rusty starters and alternators) and a "Gay" paintjob on a boat that has the "Pox".

Once the boat was completed, he used it once and then put it up for sale cos "It apparently frightened the life out of him".

I think that the truth is possibly one of the following:

The owner is a complete muppet and has been well and truly screwed by various river rats within the Marine Industry and is now trying to recoup as much of his hard earned dosh back so he can crawl under the nearest bush and lick his wounds.

OR

The owner is from within the Marine Industry, obtained the boat in a sorry condition for next to nothing and used his extensive knowledge of dressing mutton up as lamb, whilst at the same time using his artistic flair to implement a delightful paint scheme and all for the purpose of pulling someones trousers down and giving them a right royal rodgering.
