paint removal

would not use paint striper if there any spiders in gel coat will get in . if you are planning to repaint will cause reaction but i am not sure if the caustic in the paint striper will affect the gel and glass .
I do not recommend shotblasting have seen this as well and it did not leave a salvagable surface .

Paint stripper doesn't harm the gell coat , but paint stripper can only be used on a 1component paint , so do a test to be sure wich kind of paint you want to remove .
I used it to remove antifauling worked perfectly .

I once needed to remove a lot of sign-writing from a boat. An old school sign-writer recommended to use oven cleaning pads but to keep plenty of fresh water handy to prevent any reaction going too far. As soon as the paint starts to soften remove as much as possible before drenching the whole area with water. Be patient and take your time.
