Hi Jon,
Having done quite a lot of research on trim tabs for Carbon Cheetah i came across a number of manufacturers offering K plane equivalents usually manufactured from billet aluminium but as the pricing was so close i opted for 30'' mercury racing K planes as being a known quantity. If you take a look on offshore only you will find plenty of alternatives. For your application i would go for long thin rather than short fat, Carolyn however would go for LONG THICK
Regards
Peter

Thanks for all the replies.
The boat was originally fitted with K Planes (280's i think) but i have also been researching other manufacturers Billet tabs and wondered if any were a direct replacement.
Peter, you are right about the price though and the K planes being a known quantity. Further, could i enquire as to the shipping cost of your Ilmore's?
Tony, I can always count on you. I need to come and have a chat with you some time, ill bring the biscuits.

Hi Jon,
The shipping costs by air freight of the Illmor's including K planes, strainers & some other associated parts came to $3400.00 which i think is very reasonable & the packing cases were extremely heavy & quite a lot bigger in volume than actually needed, but having said that everything got here in perfect condition & it only took 3 days to arrive. If you are prepared to wait & ship by sea freight you can save roughly 35% but it can take 4-5 weeks.
We ship quite a lot from the states & usually fly it in unless it is extremely heavy & or bulky.

That does seem reasonable when you consider the size and weight.

Hi BURTY,
The weight of the Illmor 725 including the gear box & drive is 12361b
including all fluids.
The weight of a 700SCI with an NXT drive is 15481b.
Pricing of the 2 units is very comparable however as the Ilmor drive is rated to 1000hp you really need to compare the 700SCI fitted with the number 6 drive when it will then weigh 1720lb & cost in the region of $30,000 more per engine.
