260 crankshaft HP is approximatly 240 propshaft HP!!! Oh and the 2.4 200 HP normal pleasure motor peaks at 5800 but if it has the 16 amp stator and no oil injection it will spin to 6800 all day long. With the standard porting the power peaks at 5800 but it doesn't really drop off till well past 7K. Pistons are only really good for high 6's though.

It was my engine 4 years back.. since then i don't think it has had any rebuilds, but when i had it, it ran great.
It is indeed a 2.4 BP 245 bhp with an offshore leg. It drank fuel like no other, but it turned the prop around like a madman with a very characteristic howl when launching it. Ran 7000+ with ease so it has seen better times by now.
I don't seem to recall that ecu was on it, though.
Anyway that cleaver prop which was on it, was prob worth more than the entire rig itself. The transom was ripping apart (hence the plate) and the bow bent a little bit more every time you took it out for a spin. But it is a lot of fun, i can promis you that. 130+ is true.

Now, THAT's a cool thought !
But I can't risk it : I'll have serious transom problems, would need new steering, bigger fuel tank ("only" 90liter), boat is just too light for that amount of power... As I read above : the 18ft G-Craft could hardly handle it...
I have an indestructable '91 140hp Evinrude V4 now... It has probably 160hp. It runs great and is well looked after. I don't know anyone faster doing +65mph on a 16ft ring in Belgium... I've never seen a 16ft Ring with a bigger engine except for the one on boatsandoutboards with the 150hp Black Max... Mine looks quite like it...
At the moment I'm waiting for more hull-pictures from the Phantom 21ft owner. I'll post them asap, probably next week...
Bye !

engine transport ?
Kind of a practical issue here :
If I decide to buy that '89 V6 2.4 Merc (several pics above)... how will I transport this engine ?
It must 'survive' a 260km drive without a scratch !
Can I lay it horizontally in the back of a van, protecting it with all kinds of cushions ? I see no problem in transporting 2-stroke engines horizontally, but maybe I'm overlooking something ?
What are the dimensions (length!) of this engine ?
What's the weight ?
I'm looking forward to your replies.
Thanks, T.!

Weight is around 180kg. You can transport it like you say. just horizontally and with cushions. That will be no problem at all. I cant say how heigh it is but it normaly fits in a regular "break". If necessary it takes 10 minutes to remove the lower unit... So height wont be such a problem.

Ten minutes to remove the lower unit? Sounds good. Do you need new gaskets, etc. when you reassemble, or is it sealed by 'O' rings or similar?
Excuse my ignorance, just curious!

if your going to take the power head off (which if fitting a different cowling pan you will need to do) then you will need gaskets for between the powerhead and leg

If you are going to lift the power head then that's the time to check your mounts and steering bushes.
