Position of fuel tanks

I've have taken the fuel tanks out of my cat, now I have to decide were to put them back, they are 200 litre tanks each, I'm thinking I don't need that much fuel so make them 100-120? If they are smaller I'm left wondering were to put them back, forward position or backward, what would you expect this to do to the handling and performance etc
Forwards??
Middle of original tanks ??
Backwards??

I would like your thoughts and experiences please

That depends, presuming the original tanks were in the right location, put the new ones on the same longitudinal centre.
You want the tanks on the CofG.
