Promax150
Hi all, im just starting to build up my 150 promax on offshore leg,ive changed cooling by blocking up fitting on top of block and changing poppet system just to dump, was wondering what do i do with thermostats do they stay in or changed for washers. Also should i get rid of oil injection and use premix.
Hope someone can help

I think you can use a penny washer with approx 3mm hole in the centre
|

Id leave stats in a steel bore motor, Ive found they dont build heat when the water is cold!
But run the poppit out the tray..

Its all a bit of a grey area. On my 225 i run witout stats or washers but do use the poppet so little flow at low revs. As long as the motor gets warm to start with its all good.
Mainly use mine for racing though so more flow is better running at 7k+ in my opinion.
I took the oil injection off when the rev limiter came off. Easy to do and takes away the unknown factor of is it getting enough oil!

I had the same problem with my 2.4 It kept setting the overheat alarm off so I changed to the 260 style cooling as I run the offshore mid with a 1 piece adaptor with the poppet blanking plate on it dumping the water out the tray and 5mm washers in the thermostats but have a problem I'm only getting 5psi water pressure flat out!

What adaptor have you got? Has it got 2 large water dump holes or the one with small ones, only asking because i had same problem on my old 2.5 rig.
I had the bigger ones and was told to get psi up blank off the holes with ss bolts and drill 2 3mm ones nxt to them. It worked ok i was about 17psi a wot and about 5 at tick over

Yea thats the big hole one from 2.5efi, vmod and 2.4 i think had smaler ones. One in pic was same as my old one had to block up holes with nut,bolt and washers the drill smaller ones.
