My boat had a 225 merc opti before I bought it, and it had a 25p tempest plus. Seemed to work very well but unfortunately we never got any speed data with it

From those figures, I'd say a 26 trophy would put your rpm right. Its also the best handling prop I've tried on the Ring.

I've got a 24" Raker II to go on my HO as soon as the engine mounts are fixed, I'll report back with how it goes if it's too small I've got a 26" to try too

A lot depend on how high you are running as to what prop will work I used to run a 24p QSS big ear on a 21 Ring with a 2.4 EFI Merc that I converted to carbs would hit around 75mph 6000 rpm, you say you've tried a Chopper I guess you mean a Cleaver with a straight edge on the trailing side by the cupping, not the best for a single engine normally used on twins as they lift the back of the boat and can tend to make a single Chine steer

Props are strange we used to run in F1 circuit racing and we had a box of 15 props of various diameters and pitch size 3 and 4 blade even some 4 blades that had two smaller blades and 2 larger blades, we actually purchased 6 brand new props all measured the same size and pitch but the difference was amazing upto 500 rpm what I'm trying to say is all you can do is try as many as you can until you find one that works for you, you are half way there as you know roughly the size you need

I've bought wildcard's ring and fitted a Blackmax 200. There was a 24 chopper with this engine but im tering to find out what will be a nice prop to start with. The engine is right now on a 8" hydraulic detwiler, but i'll buy a 4" setback because off the steering (there's contact between the boat and the steering). Any suggestions?

no pics of the final setup but the bullet was about inline with the v with 8 inch setback. i actually had to drop my motor down a hole because i was getting too much slip out of my props and no bowlift so it handled like crap. putting your motor up high dosn't always get more speed i gained 6 mph after i dropped it down. you need to try out different hights and setups for yourself to find whats best for the boat.

I run a 23 laser II on a R21c with an opti 200. I top out at about 60 mph. Gets a bit scary chine to chine. Ease off vveeeryy carefully! Previously had a carb 2.5 200 black max. I had a 26 chopper with that which was great. Speedo indicated 70 mph so guessing it was well over 60, handled really well, and didn't over-rev.
With both set-ups I have never had a problem getting the bow up to improve top speed right up until the porpoising becomes tedious.... But I hardly ever use the bow tank.
From previous posts on this thread I would say I'm running very low on the gill bracket? Also, even though mine doesn't over-rev, the comment regarding the trophy 26 sounds interesting. Oh, for the funds.
