Props for Phantom 25 with twins

Hi!

I try again.

I will have two Merc 2.5 EFI SS engines mounted on my Phantom 25 offshore rig next month. The propheight will be 0,7-1 inch below the bottom. The engines will be mounted 19/20 inches senterline to senterline. Gear ratio 1:1.87.

I have been reccommended to try Chopper 28 and ET 28 for top speed runs. But I am looking for options for good cruise and decent top speed as well, since the gasprices in Norway is awful (USD 6,5 per gallon...).

What kind of props would you reccommend; Bravo One 4 blade props? Merc Mirage props? Raker props? Hydromotive? Any ideas?

Cheeers! Toffen G

Why dont you try the choppers first, they're great for top speed and not bad for cruising.

If your fitting new engines what are you doing with the 300 promax? do you want to sell it ?

Use to run Clevers on the 25' running in 4 ltr, choppers gave too much bow lift I felt for the 25' clevers gave a much better balance to the boat, try a 28" 14 1/4 to start would be a guess but you running 2.5's so that might under prop a bit??? maybe something taller

Props for Phantom 25

Hi!

I will try both kind of props. I have two 14.5 x 30 offshore cleavers I can test out. Choppers should also be not that difficult to test.

When I ran a Chopper II 26 on my PM 300, the cruise speed was not that good. Approx. 39 knots against 45 knots with a A40 Tempest 25. Thats the reason why I wonder if a 4 blade Bravo One prop would be nice for crusing.

However, Mercury Racing just announced the new Pro ET 4 blade prop. Maybe thats something?

Pro Finished ET models, featuring a high luster media finish, are designed for larger, heavier boats that need additional bow lift.

The PM 300 SVS is part of the swopping of engines. You can contact www.maxmotor.no if interested. Great mint engine.

Cheeers and thanks! Toffen G

Props

Hi!

The problem with Norway is taxes. We have to pay tax per horsepower + value added tax. The horsepowertax is Euro 5.000 alone + 25% value added tax.....

So thats the reason why the engine costs a handful. New price is Euro 35.000.... minium.
