Ram Pivot bolt Siezed
15" Mid-The top pivot bolt appears sized in the housing/ram top bush, what is the easyest way to free this?I can't get it to turn-is it likely to be siezed in the bush or the housing, should I apply some heat to the housing/bush?any good ideas,Nic

which part did you have to heat the ram top bush surround or the alloy housing,I've removed the nut is the bolt screwed into the housing or should it just push out,I dont want to put pressure on it in a press if it needs to be unscrewed? I know heating the bush surround will destroy the rubber bush but is that what I need to heat?.Nic

number 38 won't turn even with a air wrench, and the ram won't swivel so presumably the pin/bolt is sized in both, warming the housing is straightforward, warming the ram top bush will probably set fire to the bush-is thats whats normally required?

Never seen that one!
I usually smash those pins quite regularly, have 4 left from a dozen I had turned in a machine shop and keep them in my tool box. So never seen one seized, but if its stainless you can be sure its seized wherever its in contact with aluminium. So try heating the aluminium on each side of the swivel bracket.
I thought you were talking about the steering pin, through the tilt tube... thats a bitch when it seizes!

Just thought, have you checked for a locking pin, 41 in Tonys diagram. can be covered in grease and hard to spot

I have yet to find 41 on any of the legs i've taken apart! I'm not even sure the hole is there in the pins from the offshore mids

Ditto! can always garantee that that tilt pin is a complete nightmare to get out! we had to get ours punched out with a hydraulic press!

The schematic is for a late 2.5efi and a 200xs, where #41 is described as a setscrew. On earlier 2.5efi it's described as a pin, and on XR2's it doesn't show it.

Ive seen them with split pins right through.
Its right on the hole that I kept breaking them, thats why I had some turned without the hole, tapped the ends and locked them in with a bolt and washer.

New pin
Hi
When you get the pin out you can always weld it up and lathe it back to the right size we've done it and it works fine (cheaper than a new pin)

Yep,
XR2 Transom bracket
XR2 Clamp bracket & Tiller Arm
I have ordered from these guys several times, however the last order I placed Heather made a complete cock up of the order & it turned out to be a right headache. The prices shown are about pounds for dollars if you buy them over here.
