revenger for marathon racing?

Hi
I'm looking to give a new lease of life to a revenger monza dating from 1992. Is she suitable for marathon racing? If so, what engines would you consider. She currently has twin 400hp mercruisers in but we are willing to swap these for other petrols or diesels. What are your thoughts?

I had a look at that Revenger Monza 3 years ago, in fact im sure i have a copy of the survey somewhere. In my opinion, I would not consider that boat for marathon racing due to its condition.

If it's Medway Bridge then those aren't 400hp they'll be 365 at most. As I remember when I looked it over years ago it had a bit of work done on one engine but not a lot.

The owner had been shafted by a yard and had bills as long as your arm but not for anything of value in comparison to what he had paid them.

So engines will be throw away really for what you want to do.

If you're really serious about Marathon you could have my XPS and re engine that and it would be a more capable proposition with money back on sale of engines / drives. Same designer, bit more length ooer missus

Hi

Yes it is the Medway Bridge one. Agreed a tentative deal at £17K. What work was required in your opinion?
I was wondering about putting twin 315 yamnars in it.
Any advice / info would be helpful.
Any info on the Sunseeker XS would be good too.

Cheers

Well what can I tell you other than it's sat there for many years because the owner couldn't get his head around the money he'd spent and not getting any of it back.

I saw the invoices for what he'd had done and all I can say is he was taken for a ride by some unscrupolous yard. I would guess the mechanicals are worth more in scrap value than anything having sat as long as they have.

I also doubt she has tank capacity for marathon regardless of diesel or petrol 300 litres? and I'm not sure where you could increase the capacity easily.

The hull seemed sound enough but who knows once you start looking. Lovely looking bit of kit but sprayed in a god awful mettalic silver paint.

For the right money it may turn out to be a stonker of a boat but I would look very closely at what you are getting and be aware.

I've PMed you on the XPS it's only a thought as I'm about to let it go in a PX deal which makes it cheap.

Hi Steph. Been looking at picking up a Camargue in the Balearics and bringing it back through the canals after a few weeks hooning around the med which means I won't be around for Harwich unfortunately.

Having said that the deal could fall through yet and I might end up sticking, but if I do it then I need to clear the decks and let both the XPS and the San Marino go so I can set about the second half of my plan, which I'm not telling anyone about until I've run it past the wife!

That's the one. The guy's still faffing though as I don't think he really wants to sell, more stressful than house buying this one.
