If you bring a 16ft Reiver into it, thats the one I would opt for, bought the one 1up has after the ring, great in the rough, faster in the flat, than either a Phantom or Ring, and you can still buy one

Rings look nicer, phantoms are superior. I have friends who had hull seperation problems with rings. Our Phantom16 gets a complete beating from me and my two brother and has now problems at all.
Yam 90 Hp handled the best but to get 53mph out of it the engine was so raised up wakeboarding wasnt possible.
Had a Mercury 115 HP Tower of power on it at one point - handled like a F1 car some considered it to be dangerous.
Currently have a 100HP susuki V6 on it good speed 55mph+ Pulls a wakeboarder no problem. Not as fun to drive as the Yamaha 90 HP though maybe due to the extra weight on the rear. Very for giving though, driving with the yamaha trimmed up was like flying a kite.
Hope that Helps.
GET A PHANTOM!

Exactly, Rings do look nicer, which isn't the most important thing, but definitly a factor.
I grew up around Salcombe, bout 10 years ago, im sure i remember a boat called Cool Runnings? Perhaps that was you?
So you rekon (along with most people on this forum) that a Phantom is a better boat.
The one i have my eye on has a Yam 130 (1993), double teleflex, bow tank, whole setup spotless actually, but over £4000, seems a bit pricey, what do you think?

Yeah Cool Running II is our Boat! My parents have a holiday home in Salcombe - excellent boating place!
I would have thought you could pick one up cheaper than that yes. It maybe worth considering purchasing the boat and engine seperately. Normally the trailers are knackered, so expect to have to spend some on that or buy a new one. You would get a boat far cheaper than a package, hulls seem to last for ever my p20 was 20 years old! Then you can get a more modern engine of your choice maybe with a 3month warranty, just a thought.
If it all fits in your garage you do do the work over the winter!

Again, very much personal preference.
I personally think, generally speaking, the styling & finish on the Rings is WAY inferior to that of the phantoms (I'm not refering to the trim, just the boat itself), the only Phantoms I'm not mad keen on, are actually the 16 & exl.
It just goes to show, one mans meat, is another mans poison!

Looks good to me you should get the hull id number and check the year with Fuller, the gel coat dings are an easy fix. Get a compression test on the engine and a sea trail trail you cant tell if the motor works correctly unless its under load.
Should have plenty of power.
New Steering Wheel and carpet and your done!
Is this the one up for £4k?
Ofer 3 and settle for £3.5 if its all ok.

Between the ring 16 and p16 i think the ring does look nicer. P20's look cool as though!

Its advertised at £4950, but the guy said that figure was based on what a marina was going to sell it for on his behalf, so he's open to sensible offers.
I figured i would go for around £3950? and see what happens.
But, i have a couple of Rings to look at also.

saw this phantom before... probably on "boats and outboards"
It looks nice. I'd say go for it!
Ask for a testdrive if possible...

Marshan 162 is well worth a look!!!
If you look for Richard Weaver or Andy Hiscox on FB they can help you find a really New Marshan 162 (16 foot fast powerboat).
