Wacky, I borrowed Greg's Trophy and it was bloody awful! I was thinking a bit more low tech like a 24 Chopper. Moving up, perhaps an ET or Yam Pro V?

I ran a Mercury Tempest (25) on a Ring 21 with a Mercury 200 opti. Ran well, and handled much better than the Laser 2, and a better all round prop than the Chopper prop. Not sure how well this would work if you are running the engine high.

With what engine, height and setback, club member has a 225 Opti on a 21 Fletcher borrowed the prop and its the best one so far.

24" OMC Raker should work quite well or the 25" Tempest.

Sorry for the ignorance, is Greg the guy on Drivers Wharf with the big prop selection for trialing? Or is this someone else?

Sorry, it was a response more addressed to Wacky. I borrowed Greg Bassam's 23" Trophy from his ski race boat. I'm not sure but it may have been lab finished. I was really confident it would work but was very disappointed to find that it really couldn't have been much worse. I have never had much success with through the hub props on my Ring 21 but that may be just my application. A Laser 23 that I thought would be a reasonable all-rounder to keep as a spare worked OK on it's own but gave a very poor pull-out as if it was trying to lift the transom with the added drag.

Another good prop recomendation is to make sure you do the prop nut up properly or the prop tends to fall off

I found that a through hub cleaver offered the best performance on a ring 21. It improves it's handling and top speed you may want to give it a go if you can find One. They are quite difficult to get hold of, good luck with what ever prop you decide on

I better try that with the one i have borrowed - 23p Revolution 4 not getting to much increase on top end with this considering all I have had previously was a very badly matched 21p laser 2

Hi Simon.
I run a 21 chopper (over hub) on my ring 21. Thats on our 200 XR2 set back on a gill bracket. Pulls up to about 6800 depending on trim
It handles very well and has a good turn of pace. Im sure with a bit of trial and error we could have found a diffrent prop (eg ET lightening?) that would have been a bit quicker but the chopper works well for us and handles well so we settled for that. The chopper is a good bow lifter. A cleaver would give greater stern lift if I understand correctly.
We use it for general thrashing around and a bit of skiing. I was advised to try as many as posibl though and settle on the one that is best fo what u need.
Hope that helps
Al
