Shame to Scotland
Hi all... well it's kind of bad news here in Scotland.... so far no-one will repair a race XR2... countless phone calls all to no avail... no wonder I'm the only Scottish racer!!!... seems crazy that I will have to travel a round trip of about 1000 miles to get a new powerhead!!... shame to all the Scottish marine mechanics!!

Wait till you get Independence, then we will charge you 5% duty + Vat just to cross the boarder
Joking aside cant you just pallet the powerhead or is it the whole motor. XR2 isn't rocket science really surprised you cant find any one

What's up with the motor? Because, IMVHO, travelling 1000 miles (or paying for shipment) is worth it to know a motor's been built right.

Thanks guys for your replies... FYM refused to work on the engine (because it's a race engine??)... Davie hasn't replied to my calls... Ferry marine were too busy... and DDZ were so expensive that I could have bought a new engine!!... so a big thanks to Ocean Racing who is preparing a new powerhead... just the trip down south!!... still hopefully manage the middle to end of the season's racing!!... hey by the way... anyone up here come along to the Glasgow River Festival... I'll be there promoting powerboat racing... and I'll have a spare life jacket if you fancy a run!!

Hi Dave... it's the 14 & 15th of July... I'll be at one of the pontoons (don't know which one yet)... but it would be great to see you and anyone else that cares to come... and a run is guaranteed!! (speed limit is a bit of a chore... but we'll get over that!!)

Hi Alan... yes there is zap cat racing... but no waterskiing (as far as I know)... there are some problems with speed restrictions... but we'll get over these... brilliant to see you there and a run in the boat is definate... I'll have a life jacket for you

God, nice to see someone else in this neck of the woods likes fast boats - live down in Callander myself so only 16miles away from you!!
Have you tried Crossan outboards in Balloch - he has been my Merc dealer for as long as I have been boating. Currently running an XR2 myself but the 'stock' version - not race tuned.
If I am still about I will try to pop over to Glasgow for that weekend - kind of on an enforced sick leave at mo since I smashed up my ankle last week so it all depends when the doc's say I'am clear to go back offshore again. If I am still signed off I'll get my wife to drive me over
Cheers
Dave
