Hi Burty, I’ve made a couple of enquiries regarding prices of merc steering cables, and the news is pretty grim.
A ride Guide cable, part no 11111A13 is £139.03, less 12.5% plus vat, £142.94
A Ride Guide “extended life” cable, part no 828012A13 is £168.00, less 12.5% plus vat, £172.73.
The extended life is out of stock, the normal is available from Barrus.

Thanks Tony. I'll have to have another think about wether to go hydraulic or buy a cable or even cheaper just not be able to raise my engine on the lift

Hydraulic is good but so is cable if it the expensive stuff like Burty's. 
And its alot cheaper to buy one new cable than it is to buy a whole hydraulic setup.

Well, I know i was more than happy with the deal i got from TD for my seastar stnd setup.
As he says on another post "fantastic deals on Hydraulic".......check it out, its probably cheaper than i got it for...............git!

it says on the seastar web site that normal seastar is only good for upto 60mph and the pro version is only good for upto 75mph and neither are anygood for chopper or any surface piecering props.
well i wana go more than 75mph and i have a surface piercing chopper well et prop so i'm guna need something else latham maybe or just a longer cable

Ok, it's cheap. but that steering is suited to a rib, not a sportsboat.

Thanks matt all i would need to do then is change the steering wheel to one of these below, then i could tie a rope to it and have autopilot
