Tilt And Trim Earthing Problem

HOPE SOME ONE CAN SHED SOME LITE ON THIS PLS
got a yam 140
their seems 2 be a very small earthing strap from the saddle 2 the motor it is only about 3'' long and about 1.5 thickness
as i went 2 use the trim motor up and down this little wir starts 2 smoke and glow red i have a bad earth some where can any 1 point me in the right direction thanks nick

Hi, like you say you have a bad earth somewhere and this earthing strap has carried more load than was intended. Just work your way through the earths making sure the contacts are clean and tight and cables in good order.

think i got 2 the bottom of it 3 wires going into the trim pump motor the earth wire seems 2 be broken inside the motor is it possible 2 run another earth wire on out side 2 the body of motor and back up 2 the engine will it see me through the summer as a temporary measure just for the summer till i can refit the boat at the end of season thanks nick
