Towing with my x type
I have only ever towed lightweight outboard powered ski boats in the past but now have a wellcraft 21 with a 4.3 inboard. Anyone know whether my jag x type 2.5 v6 awd will have enough balls to drag it up the slipway??
I'd be keen to here from anyone who has towed a similar sized rig with an xtype
Cheers

Awd
it has a kerb weight of 1555kgs and a towing capacity of 1500 (or 1322 at 85% of kerb weight)
the published spec sheet says the boat weights approx over 1225 kgs inc engine

Give it a go..... It should be ok..... unless you get on the slippery stuff.
If the car does start spinning.
Then use a tow rope.
Put the trailer brake on, un hitch the car, move the car forward to a flatter or less splippery surface, Tie the rope between trailer and tow bar and try again.
Don't forget to apply the trailer brakes before releasing the rope.
Job done!

If the boat weighs in at 1225kg then presumably by the time you add fuel, kit and the weight of the trailer itself, you are going to be well over 1500kg?
I'd say it's possible - back in the dim distant past I used to tow and launch a 21ft RIB with a Mundano V6 which is of similar size to your X-type. On the road it was fine, on slipways it could be a challenge. However you are going to be at or beyond the top end of your 1500kg so really it's a job for a 4x4 SUV of some flavour.

My X type diesel pulls the bat boat no problem. If it starts spinning on the slip way I get the navigator to sit on the bonnet, no problem.
