Trim pump O-ring size

Just wondering if anyone can help me out sizing an O-ring on the trim pump of my Merc 150 XR2.

During the last season we found that when the engine was trimmed right down the pump pee'ing hydraulic oil out the top seal. On opening he pump up it was found that the top O-ring had perished.

I checked with the usual dealers and to get a replacemnt KIT is £90 or there abouts!! i don't want to pay this since I am only replacing one ring, not a complete rebuild.

i have access to O-ring suppliers or even make my own up but due to the deformation of the original ring its difficult to ensure I get the right size.

Can anyone please tell me the inside diameter and rubber diameter of the O-ring highlighted in the attached file. I think its 73mm and 2.5mm but as I said, I cannot be 100% sure due to the condition.

oring size

Hi,
The inside diameter size of this oring is 2.8 inches (71.12mm) the cross diameter is 2.26mm. made in nitrile shore 70-75 , I guess.
Coming from quicksilver kit : power trim oring kit 25-48462A2.

the closest reference at your Caterpillar dealer is reference 3K-4025 nitrile shore 75 ID= 71.12mm, but for this reference the cross diameter is 2.62mm(may be a bit too much)
For other people i've added the drawing with all diam to avoid ordering the expensive kit.
note: the cross diameters are not inscribed on this document.

hope that helps.
Bruno

Hi Bruno,

Would you happen to know the o-ring thickness or cross-section of o-ring listed as 'e' in the power trim o-ring kit 25-48462A2?

I need to replace mine but don't need the entire kit...

Cheers, Sledd

Wrong o-ring

Thanks dejasouth, but I'm interested in the thickness of the 0.989 inch ID o-ring listed on the o-ring kit of 25-48462A-2...
Do you know what that is?

Thanks, sledd

FYI, it turns out to be a standard o-ring size 0.989" ID x 1/16", nitrile part number 022 by Daemar Inc., 3 cents each.
