Trimflaps - what's the use?
I have seen trimflaps on 'big' RING's and Phantoms, but have always woundered, what's the use??
I only thougt it was a 'thing' for bigger boats that needed to be stabile and prevent the boat from 'rolling'?
What's the use on smaller boats, and is it just a 'race thing'??

Well they limit steering torque which is helpful especially on cable steering.

Once youve had them you will always want them, you can bring your nose up or down or balance the boat side to side if you have a fat **** in,saves moving ballast about, not only that they look good aswell

Im not sure i quite agree.. hehe.
In my point of wiew, the boat isn't looking that 'clean' and doesn't it affect the top-speed/increase drag when You put that ekstra 'blades' down in the water??

Each to their own mate,i have had with/without on a phantom 21 and a 25 and on two ring 21s and a ring 24,without i got chine ride on max, with i didnt, they also extend the length of your boat by 2ft enabling you to trim your boat a bit more via engine, thereby giving you more top end,yet keeping you stable, nose up,less boat/drag in the water, you asked the question, the only way you will satisfy yourself is to try them,i notice MATT in his new project is fitting them as new on his 28 boat as is steve hutch on his new project, they are both old school powerboat racers/builders/riggers,nuff said.Personally,i wouldnt be without them .

Running a Ring 18 and have them fitted - couldnt agree more, being a 6ft 6 "heavy weight" they make a big difference.
I know its everyone to their own but I wouldnt be without them now. We only use the boat for "playing" and end up having some fairly major weight issues between the passengers.
Be very careful the first time you go out IF you fit them as they take some getting used to - my mate who used to race came out the first time after I fitted her out to show me their pro's and cons and I was glad he did.
Just added a ballast tank as well so got lots of toys to play with now

Super you mentioned it (I would never have thought of that...)
Could you perhaps tell a little bit of the "does and dont's" regarding trim-flaps, cause I'd never tried a boat who had them on.
