Twin Engines
Does anyone know if it's possible to run two 2.5 Mercs with alien cowels on the back of a Ring 20?

Any thing is possible mike! It just depends how far you wanna go. If the engine well of the Ring is not big enough for 2 engines then you can have stand off bracket made to mount them off the back.
What 2.5's are they?

ARE YOU ON DRUGS???? You can cock the engines to put the props closer together and give yourself more cowling room. Also the transom is going to need some pretty serious support.

Just thought that as I had a spare powerhead and if it was just a bolt on job I might as well put it to good use and get the old adrenelin flowing. I reckon it would be quite a handfull.
The engines are 2.5 carb models.

Vaguely remember Jon telling me about a boat in the Channel Islands (Guernsey or Jersey, can't remember which) he used to work on. Can't remember for sure if it was a ring (but I think it was), but I do particularly remember him saying it was the most hairy arsed boat he'd ever driven.

Well allowing for the room - another option might be to convert to the older, smaller 2.5 cowlings. You will need at least a 60 gallon fuel tank (preferably in the belly), two bilge pumps, two batteries, big tabs (not necessarily moving individually) and the moment it comes off the trailer you will want to start filling at least a 35 gallon bow tank. Don't be surprised just how low it will float- low enough that you won't be able to float stationary on choppy days. It's a lot of work without any guarantees of success at the end.

Won't that make the steering a bit funny?

Not necessarily but the props will steal water from each other.
