Volts, Amps + Watts
Need to get a battery isolator for my car...Well 2,
would i be right in saying a 24v isolator rated to 250A is capable of 500A at 12V?
I need to isolate my power wires to the subs and amps in my boot,
4 amps,
2x kenwood class D amps which are 1000watts continuous and 1600watts peak@ 14.2 V(model-KAC-PS811D)
2x kenwood A/B amps which are (i think 600watts Continuous 1200watts Peak @14.2 V(model-KAC-PS621D )
I need to isolate 2x4gauge power cables,
Any suggestions
Cheers

Maybe aye, maybe no. The current density through the contacts is important. If it's really high, you might weld them together! ...

Nope.
250A is the maximum current carrying capacity. 24V is the isolation rating governed by the clearance between the contacts.

Out of interest why do you want to isolate them?

worse case scenario happens i can cut the power to them
2x 1600watts @14.4v =222.22 amps
2x1200 watts @14.4v =166.66 amps
so amps can draw a total of =388 amps
hents i cant have a fuse inline, you cant get the type of fuses i need at high enough rating.
Also its just a good idea to be able to isolate the power to the amps, if a wire ever comes off then im nackerd!

Your car won't move with all the weight of the batteries and extra drain on the engine with the massive alternator you'll need to charge them!!!
