boost

Tris
KAD32 should be 10.1 psi @ 2000rpm light load, do not go any higher than that, turbo may upset readings,
there is a plug in the inlet manifold for gauge
underway you should get the following
1800 rpm : 21/22 psi
2500 rpm : 23/24 psi
3800 rpm : 25/26 psi
also a lot depends on air temperature
if memory serves me right blower cuts out about 2700 rpm by which time
turbo is up to speed

Thanks Gerry. I have recently rebuilt a KAD 32 and the kompressor was siezed as the boat had sunk so insurance paid for a new one. I have stripped it down and got it all running smoothly so may try and get it on my track car (golf VR6) so need to work out plley sizes. take the clutch pulley off and replace with larger for less boost. want to go for about 7-10psi at full revs or major engine/head work is needed.
got to be worth a shot..

boys and their toys !!!!
i had one off a kad 32 which had a oil leak, volvo replaced the unit under warranty i gave it to one of the cars boys over here in guernsey will see if he did anything with it,
it's a basic blower at the end of the day so you should be able to fix it up
quite easily
have fun

good stuff. its a roots type blower, would be interesting if they did and how they made up the inlet and outlets. I was just thinking ally plate with hose tail welded out of it?

what do you think will happen to the boost and charger at 5-6k rpm if it usually done and off by 2500 rpm?
do you think it will still hold its 10psi at double its rpm. or will it be maths to get a larger pulley to lower the boost till higher rpm?

Tris,
volvo give 10 psi @ engine rpm of 2000,
you would need to measure pulley sizes to see what the blower is turning at
to give that 10 psi, that blower will run up to 13000 rpm and give 1.8 x
atom = 675 cubic metres @ 26/27 psi, or 23837 cubic ft @ 26/27 psi
that's a lot of air
supercharging is an art in its own right
then you are looking at waste gates etc
have to sleep on this one
