wanted propshaft for promax 300x

Can anyone tell me the best place to get a new propshaft for a merc promax 300x torquemaster box, looking for a new one rather than refurb, also anyone got any idea of the cost?.
Thanks in advance Nick.

Torque master prop shaft, part number 44-840453A03 retails for 602.37 + vat. you'd get a 10% discount on that, but Barrus don't have stock so it'd be on back order.

re propshaft

Thanks for that ,I called Barrus and they have said mercury are now making their own shafts for these (i thought they would be made by merc anyway) and the price is now £202.52 plus vat retail ! which i thought was very cheap. They have managed to get me one from Belgium via a merc dealer.
Cheers Nick.

You'd have to change loads of other bits to fit it!

Might be able to find you a good s/h shaft.

Thanks, i am going to have to see what turns up, i have just spoken to them and as far as they can see the 44-840453A03 part has been superceeded by 44-840453 which according to them is a new number, however when i put this number in mercruiser parts it comes up as a standard shaft so i will just wait and see, (i will probably be in touch for the s/h one next week - when the wrong one turns up!!).Thanks for your help once again.Nick

The shaft has turned up and it is the correct one (fatshaft) and the price was £202.52 inc vat ,i must say i thought it was going to be the wrong one .
